Yikes! I totally forgot BART b/c it didn't seem like a subway. This map is all "subway" miles. I checked and it runs 32km underground -- same as Budapest. Which is a commentary on how dense Budapest is vs. SF -- you could go anywhere on the Budapest metro.

San Francisco's BART is subterranean at times, especially in the downtown area... You rode that in 1991/92. B.
