I can’t escape the feeling that this will be the week the ATMs stop working. The actual cause will be complicated but “tariffs” and “DOGE” will be convenient scapegoats.

The nature of global systems in 2025 is that they turn slower than aircraft carriers but can stop on a fricking dime.

I don’t find this sensation doomy, by the way. The opposite, in fact. I can’t quite suss out why.

Maybe it’s like when I realized (as a teenager) the actual scale of me/my loved ones/humanity/Earth in the universe. It was freeing to realize none of it mattered, on that scale. I could only tend to the smallest, closest part.
