The heat finally broke this weekend, but the humidity didn’t. Taiwan helpfully dispersed a typhoon, but Xiamen has been receiving a steady dose of light rain for two days now. We’re now down to the upper 20s (Centigrade) or maybe 75-80 F. Pretty nice, actually.
The rain is reminiscent a bit of the Northwest, but probably only because it’s wet. I'm not used to warm rain like this. Still: nice to hear rain dropping on the vegetation behind the house, and nice to live without air conditioning.
The Xiamenese carry umbrellas. If mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun, then I suppose North Americans get wet in the rain.
